This is a story. It happened yesterday, to my roommate and I. We made a trip to the mall and there was little parking, which is what happens on Saturdays in this town. There was little parking, as I mentioned, and someone thought it appropriate to drive half way through a parking spot, in order to take up two spots. We parked next to this car and decided that this was completely infuriating, so we did something we had never done before: we left a note. The note was not particularly offensive or mean, it read: LEARN to park!
Upon our return to the car there was a post it on our car with this on it, a typed up message:
Did this person carry around notes such as this with them all the time? We found it hilarious, but were mad because we were parked rather properly. The mystery remains: who dunnit? Was it the person who took up the two spots or someone else entirely?

The Good Word
After reading a certain article, I am intrigued, this has a lot of potential, it does. However, what exactly could this lead to? Everything is exploited in some manner which is cause for concern. Artificial intelligence has many advantages, but umm.. it's damn scary, no?
I'm not sure what to say about this:

The Outrageousness
If you thought that the story about the Yahoo baby was ridiculous:
And now BREAKING NEWS. I wasn't going to post that, but in light of all the ridiculous news I have been encountering, I thought it would be appropriate. What a waste of webspace.
BUCHAREST, Romania (Reuters) -- A Romanian tabloid says it has fired a reporter for making up a story about a couple who named their son Yahoo as a sign of gratitude for meeting over the Internet.
Earlier this month, major Bucharest daily Libertatea published a story saying two Romanians had named their baby Yahoo and printed a picture of his birth certificate. The news was widely picked up on the Internet.
"It was the reporter's child's birth certificate, which he modified," said Simona Ionescu, Libertatea's deputy editor-in-chief. "We fired him."
She said Ion Garnod, who had worked for the paper for several years, had admitted inventing the story to look good.
"If it were real, it would have been a good story indeed," Ionescu said.
Garnod was not available for comment.

The Update
The article I posted on January 13 was commented on by Dennis Miller:
"A new study shows that rats can use the rhythm of human language to tell the difference between Dutch and Japanese. In a related story, there's still no cure for cancer."
Touché.

The Thoughtless
It's like the sea monkey colony I've established, except less gross.
Darth Vader Mr. Potato Head. I'm not sure how I feel about this.
Why do I only post when I am rather incapable of assembling coherent thoughts? Anyone?

The Grunt
So things are beginning to lighten up and improve. This makes me smile. I hope it catches on. Also, I hope I don't ever have to work in such a place. But I will support them. They are the future. If I ever own a car, I'd rather it not be powered this way, nor on water, but electric. I don't care how inefficient they are for traveling. They should try to improve this technology so that larger vehicles can begin using it, i.e. Planes. Has everyone heard about that ridiculous new airplane? It's super fantastic, I agree. Is it necessary? Ok, I just know that I will likely never such an airplane, which does not bother me in the least because I wouldn't appreciate it anyway.
Speaking of which. There is no research as I suggested in my previous entry, just a lot of tedious work. It is an 'in' however and hopefully it will get me a kickass summer job. If not, does someone have a job for me?

The Untold Tale
This is an interesting find.
And I've realised its significance. This kind of reasearch and finding could allow for communication in the relatively distant future with animals. That could be quite useful, I assume, but I cannot think functionally right now. I could elaborate on this further. We'll see how my brain feels after the next few weeks, right now it feels like it doesn't like me very much.
This is also the reason for lack of posting. But I might have some things to share in the future. Perhaps research?

The Purpose
From here:
"Being a student is no longer about making endless cups of Nescafé and talking about Derrida: these days you need to be thinking about how to put your university experience to practical use. And while the ability to make a decent cup of coffee is likely to stand you in good stead in your first place of employment, it may not, in itself, do much for your CV. As the job market gets increasingly competitive, it is no longer enough to have a degree if you want to worm your way into the workplace. To get an edge on your fellow graduates, you need to have done work experience. But if students are merely learning how to become employable, why go to university at all?"
I ask myself that question everyday. I think that this article was supposed to make students feel optmistic about the idea that there are oppurtinuties to gain appropriate and relevant work experience. I feel like I have no purpose now, with my course of study, there is no particular field where I find myself in an office. Or employed for that matter. HA! That is my mission.

The Promise
Ok, there has nothing that has come to my attention as of late, I apologize. Things have obviously been going on in the world around us and you always have to remember how fragile things really are.
Things are starting up around here again, school is back in full swing (ok, ok, last semester was a joke) and you will soon find me in the corner mumbling to myself incoherently. As per usual.
This is catchy:
They Might be Giants - "Ana Ng"
The Hold Steady - "Killer Parties"
I'm going to go be productive and take a nap. Keep thinking.
And if you look to your right, you will notice the addition of a links section. And if you look above, I replaced green with a photograph, I will post the photo eventually, I suppose.
